Your Sodashi Pigmentation Ritual

Do you suffer from pigmentation?

You are not alone! Many of us currently have or will experience some form of pigmentation on our skin as we age, especially those who live in areas with high UV rays (Australian customers - we are talking to you!).

Luckily, some pure, active natural ingredients have the power to help combat the appearance of pigmentation by reducing and brightening the skin. Some of these ingredients include; Carrot Seed Oil, Lime, Lemon, Geranium, Sweet Orange, Rosehip and many more!

We have the luxury of using many of these ingredients in our formulations, which has helped many of our customers reduce the signs of pigmentation on their skin.

What is Pigmentation?

'Pigmentation' refers to the natural colour of the skin. This colour is determined by the total amount of melanin produced within the basal (the deepest layer of the skin).

What is Hyper-Pigmentation?

'Hyper-pigmentation' refers to a condition in which some patches of the skin are darker than others. This common condition occurs when excess volumes of melanin form deposits in the skin. Hyper-pigmentation often presents in the form of age spots, freckles or dark patches.

What causes Hyper-Pigmentation?

1. UV Exposure

The number one cause of an increase in Melanin production is UV exposure when the skin increases the production of Melanin to protect itself from damage. While for some people this increase results in a tan, for others this can cause dark spots or patches. We would always recommend covering up to avoid skin damage via UV exposure.

2. Hormones

An increase in oestrogen and progesterone can cause excessive production of Melanin. This is common during pregnancy. Also, certain medications such as the contraceptive pill can cause hyper-pigmentation. Usually, this fades when the hormones return to a normal level.

3. Inflammation

Damaging the skin by picking at pimples or blemishes can lead to hyperpigmentation in the form of red or brown marks.

4. Stress

In some cases dealing with high levels of stress or going through a stressful period can affect the amount of melanin produced by the skin cells.

5. Ageing of the skin

As we age, the cells that produce pigment (melanocytes) increase in size, which makes skin more susceptible to hyperpigmentation.

Your Sodashi Pigmentation Ritual

1. CLEANSE

Cleanse morning and night with Clay Cleanser with Lavender or Lime. While Lime is a more active ingredient to combat oiliness, Lavender is highly nourishing.

  • French Argiletz Clay offers a gentle exfoliating effect for the skin.
  • Lavender promotes cell renewal.
  • Ultra-nourishing Almond Oil relieves inflammation - inflammation causes melanocytes (pigment cells) to produce more pigment in the skin.

2. COMPRESS

Compress daily with Brightening Face Drops or Cell Renewal Drops.

Brightening Face Drops

Our most effective tool for reducing pigmentation. This blend of natural brightening agents (Lemon and Lime) helps to lighten dark spots.

Cell Renewal Drops a.k.a our 'Cell Activator'

Perfect for all skin types, our Enzyme Face Polish gently removes dead skin cells and targets pigmentation with natural brightening agents Geranium and Sweet Orange.

Include a weekly intensive mask treatment in your routine. We recommend our Brightening Marine Mineral Mask.

Packed with phytonutrients to detoxify and revitalising Rosewood. Australian yellow and white clays blend with ultra-fine Zeolite Clay to clarify and brighten the complexion.
